FOSTER BREEDING PROGRAM
Volunteer to become a part of our Foster Breeding Program
Younghaus Working Dogs, would love to keep all of our Working females at our kennels but there is just not enough time in the day to give them the attention, care and training they need. In order to keep our breeding Females healthy and happy we have a foster breeding program.
Our Foster program allows a selected foster family to have a Top quality Working dog at little to no initial cost. The job of the foster home is to provide this dog day to day care. Day to day care includes feeding, training, vet care, grooming and of course to give love to this wonderful animal.
This Working female is to be kept intact as long as she is a breeding prospect. When the fostered female is 12 months of age, she is x-rayed for hip and elbow dysplasia by Younghaus Working Dogs. If free from these genetic conditions, the puppy’s temperament is further evaluated.
At 18 months (or older) years of age, this female is to be kept intact and available for breeding when she comes into season. Younghaus Working Dogs will then breed the female and give her back to the foster family to prepare for whelping and is kept there until the puppies are 6 weeks of age. (all breeding expenses paid for by Younghaus Working Dogs). At 6 weeks of age all Puppies will go back to Younghaus Working Dogs. This process will happen for a total of 2 breedings, after this has been completed, the female dog will then be completely owned by the Foster Family.
If the Foster Family is not able to follow through with the successful completion of 2 breedings, the Working Female will be returned to Younghaus Working Dogs.
